## About Easy Subnet Calculator

Subnetting is arithmetic you can do on paper and get wrong in a hurry. Easy Subnet Calculator does it while you type.

There is one box. Put 192.168.1.1/24 in it, or 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0, or just an address — whichever notation you happen to be holding. The answer is already on screen before you reach for a button, and the first thing it tells you is how many hosts actually fit, which is the number you came for.

## Drag the prefix

A slider runs the whole range, /0 to /32. Pull it and the network, the broadcast, the host range and the count all move together. Watching a /24 turn into four /26s teaches the idea faster than a table of it does, and it answers "will this fit?" without a second calculation.

## See where the mask cuts

The address and the mask are drawn in binary with the network bits and the host bits in different colors, so the prefix stops being an abstraction and becomes the place the line falls. It is the picture a textbook draws, and almost no calculator shows it.

## It knows what kind of address it is

Thirteen reserved and private ranges are named on sight — RFC 1918 private space, loopback, link-local, carrier-grade NAT, the documentation blocks, multicast, and the rest — along with the historical class. Useful when you are looking at an address someone has handed you and are not sure what you are looking at.

## And it is right at the edges

A /31 is a point-to-point link with no network or broadcast address and two usable hosts; a /32 is a single host route. Tools that subtract two from everything report nonsense for both. This one does not.

Every row copies with one click. It follows your Windows theme. It has no account, no sign-in, no ads, nothing held back behind an unlock — and it never opens a socket, because there is nothing here it would need the network for.

Built for Windows 11, and at home on Windows 10.

## Features

- One box that takes 192.168.1.1/24, a dotted mask, or just an address
- The usable host count first, because it is what you opened the calculator for
- Network, broadcast, netmask, wildcard, first and last host, and the total
- A prefix slider — drag /24 down to /26 and watch every number move
- The address in binary with the network bits and the host bits colored apart
- Names the range: private, loopback, link-local, CGNAT, documentation, multicast
- Correct on /31 point-to-point links and /32 host routes, which most tools are not
- Copy any row with one click
- Light and dark, following Windows
- No account, no ads, and it does all its math on your PC
