## About Mouse Mapper

There is a keyboard shortcut you use fifty times a day, and a button on your mouse that has never done anything at all.

## A key under your thumb

Click a button on the drawing of your mouse, then press the key it should send. From that moment it sends that key everywhere in Windows — the browser, the editor, the game.

## All five, including the two by your thumb

Left, right, the wheel, and the Back and Forward buttons on the side. Those last two are the ones most remappers miss: Windows gives them both the same message and they have to be told apart deliberately, which the previous version of this app never did correctly.

## A whole shortcut, not just a key

Hold Ctrl, Shift or Alt while you choose, and that is what the button sends from then on. The modifiers go down in order and come back up in reverse, so a real Ctrl+C arrives rather than a C near a Ctrl.

## It can still click

Keep the original and the button does both jobs at once — the click it always did, plus the key you gave it. This matters most on left click, where taking the button away also takes away the click that would undo it. The app defaults to keeping it and says so plainly if you turn that off.

## Games see it

Keys are sent as scancodes with the extended-key flag set where it belongs, which is what DirectInput and Raw Input actually read. A remapper built on virtual keys is invisible to most games. Games running kernel-level anti-cheat reject simulated input of any kind, and no remapper gets past that one.

## Always a way back

Press Escape five times and every button goes back to itself. It is a keyboard shortcut on purpose: if a rule has taken the pointer, the keyboard is what you have left.

## If a side button does nothing

Check your mouse's own software first. Most of it binds Back and Forward to keyboard shortcuts before Windows ever sees them as buttons, and no remapper can reach them until that is switched off.

## Upgrading

Mappings from the previous version are carried across the first time it opens.

It works fully offline and needs no account. No ads, and nothing held back behind an unlock. An optional EvlarSoft ONE sign-in backs up your settings to carry them to another PC, and feedback is sent only when you press Send.

Built for Windows 11, and at home on Windows 10.

## What's new in 2.0.7

- The side buttons work. Back and Forward are told apart properly, which the old build could not do
- A button can send a whole shortcut now, not just one key. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Alt+F4
- Keep the original too, so the button still clicks and sends a key as well. Asked for by name in a review
- A mapped left button no longer traps you: it keeps clicking by default, and the app warns you before it stops
- Keys are sent as scancodes, so games and emulators see them. The old build sent virtual keys and most games ignored them
- Escape five times puts every button back, from the keyboard, even when the pointer is gone
- Your old mappings are carried across on the first launch
