## About Personal FTP Server

One folder, one address, and a key that starts it.

Personal FTP Server shares a folder on this PC with the other devices you own. Browse to the folder, press the key on the front of the rack, and the plate underneath shows the address a phone, a laptop or a TV box on the same network types to reach it.

## Who gets in

Set a username and a password and visitors sign in with those. The password is stored encrypted by Windows, scoped to your account, and it is still there next time you open the app.

Or turn on access for everyone on the network, when a houseful of devices is easier without passwords. That is a switch you throw on purpose. An empty box does not quietly mean anyone.

## Read-only when you mean it

One switch and the share becomes download-only. Uploading, deleting, renaming, making and removing folders are all turned away at the door, before they can touch anything, and the refusal shows up in the activity list.

## Whatever it does, you see it

The lights on the rack follow the server: a link blink when someone connects, a disk blink while bytes move. Underneath, uptime, how many are connected and how much has been transferred. The activity list names every connection, every file in or out with its size, and every sign-in that failed.

## It is plain FTP

Worth saying plainly: FTP is not an encrypted protocol, and this app does not add encryption over it. It is built for your own network — your PC serving your own phone and laptops across the room — not for opening to the internet. Windows may ask to let it through the firewall the first time, and that prompt is yours to answer.

Port 21 to start with, and any port you like if something else already has that one. Nothing is shared until you press the key, including when the app starts minimized.

Light and dark, following Windows or pinned to one. No account, no sign-in to us, no ads.

Built for Windows 11, and at home on Windows 10.

## Features

- Pick a folder, press the key, and it is served over FTP from this PC
- Sign-in with a username and password you choose, stored encrypted by Windows and remembered between launches
- Or open it to everyone on your network — a switch you turn on deliberately, never what a blank box falls back to
- Read-only mode: visitors list and download, and every command that would change the folder is refused
- Shows the address a phone or laptop on the same Wi-Fi types, with a button that copies it
- An activity list of who connected, what was sent or received, and any sign-in that was turned away
- Uptime, how many are connected and how much has moved, counted while it runs
- Visitors stay inside the folder you picked, with nothing above it reachable
- Any port you like, 21 to start with, and it says plainly when Windows wants admin for one under 1024
- No account, no ads, and nothing that leaves your PC
