File Hash Generator
Work out the checksum of every file in a folder, then copy the whole list out in one press. CRC32, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512, written in the standard two-space format that sha256sum and every checker built on it already reads — so the list pastes straight into a .sha256 file and publishes as-is. Large files are read in a stream. Everything happens on your PC.
Every file in the folder, hashed in one pass.

About File Hash Generator
A checksum is how you prove a file is the file you think it is: the same bytes give the same answer every time, and one different byte anywhere gives a completely different one.
File Hash Generator works them out for a whole folder at once.
The whole set, not one file
Drop in a folder and every file in it is hashed in one pass, each one listed with its result. Nobody hashes a single file and reads it off the screen — they hash a set and need the set written down.
Copy it out in one press
The finished list is in the standard format: the digest, two spaces, the file name. That is exactly what sha256sum, md5sum and every checker built on them expect, so the list pastes into a .sha256 or .md5 file and works without being reformatted.
Five algorithms
SHA-256 and SHA-512 for anything that matters. MD5 and SHA-1 because, whatever their reputation, they are still what most download pages publish and you need to be able to match one. CRC32 for a quick check that a copy came across intact.
Built for big files
Files are read in a stream rather than loaded into memory, so a disc image, a virtual machine or a video is hashed without the app growing to the size of the file. A long run can be cancelled at any point.
Any file, untouched
It only reads. Nothing is opened, interpreted, moved or modified — hashing a file leaves it exactly as it was.
On your PC, and nowhere else
There is no account, no sign-in, no upload and no telemetry. The app has no network code in it at all and works with the connection turned off.

What's new in 2.0.4
- Now hashes a whole batch. Earlier versions did one file at a time; drop in a folder and every file in it is done in one pass
- Copy the entire list in one press, in the standard two-space checksum format — it pastes straight into a .sha256 file that any checker will read
- Added SHA-512 and CRC32 alongside MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-256
- Files are read in a stream instead of being loaded into memory, so disk images and videos no longer depend on how much RAM is free
- A long run can be cancelled part-way through
- Drag and drop from Explorer, and a right-click selection of many files opens one window instead of one each
- A redesigned interface, in light or dark, and it can follow Windows instead if you prefer
