Input Logger

Records every key and mouse click on your PC in a live list, newest at the top, and shows the character each key actually typed, read from your keyboard layout so accents and AltGr come through as themselves. Watch keyboard, mouse, or both; track only the keys you name; keep presses alone or releases too. Filter the log, save a typed transcript, or export the raw log as CSV or JSON. Starts with Windows and stays on this PC — no account, nothing sent anywhere.

About Input Logger

A record of what your keyboard and mouse did, kept on your own PC.

Input Logger watches every key press and every mouse click and lists them as they happen, newest at the top. It runs quietly from the notification area, so the window can be shut while the log keeps filling.

The character, not just the key

Most loggers show a key by its name — Escape, VK_OEM_1, a number. Input Logger reads your keyboard layout and shows the character the key actually typed, held down the way you held it. Shift, Caps Lock and the AltGr combinations all come through, so an accented letter or a symbol reads as itself rather than as a code.

Watch what you want

Keyboard, mouse, or both — switched with a single tap at the top of the window. Keep only the presses, or record the releases too when the timing matters. The mouse wheel is optional, because a scroll is a run of events and leaving it off keeps a flick of the wheel from burying the clicks around it.

Name a handful of keys — W, A, S, D — and only those are recorded, so a session watching a few keys is not lost in everything else you pressed. Every mouse button is recorded with where the pointer was, and the back and forward buttons are named rather than numbered.

Start with Windows

Set it to begin at sign-in and it starts in the notification area, already logging, before you open a thing. The log survives a restart and picks up where it left off, so nothing is lost when the PC reboots.

Yours, and only yours

The log is kept on this PC and nowhere else. There is no account, no sign-in, and nothing is ever sent anywhere. Keep up to a hundred thousand entries — about a week of heavy use; the oldest fall off the end as new ones arrive, or clear the lot in one click.

Filter the list by key, button or character to find what you are after. Save a typed transcript that turns the keystrokes back into readable text — Enter, Tab and spaces land where they belong, and Backspace, Delete and the rest show as themselves rather than vanishing — or take the raw log as a spreadsheet or as JSON.

On your PC

No account, nothing running on someone else's server. Input Logger reads your own input and tells nobody — nothing leaves the PC unless you save it yourself.
