Key Mapper
Make one key do the job of another — or a whole shortcut, or nothing at all.
Caps Lock can be Ctrl. Pick a key, say what it should send.

About Key Mapper
A key is only a label. Caps Lock has been in the best position on the keyboard since the 1980s and almost nobody uses it for what it says.
Change what a key does
Pick a key by pressing it, then say what it should send instead. From that moment every application on the PC gets the new one — the browser, the editor, the game, the sign-in box.
A whole shortcut, not just a key
Hold Ctrl, Shift or Alt while you choose, and the key sends that combination from then on. One key for Ctrl+C. One key for Alt+F4. The modifiers go down in order and come back up in reverse, so what arrives is a real shortcut rather than letters that happened to be near one.
Or nothing at all
Some keys are only in the way. Insert, Caps Lock, the one your palm finds mid-sentence. Set a key to do nothing and it stops working until you switch the app off — nothing is disabled at the driver level and nothing needs a reboot to undo.
See it on a keyboard
Every rule is drawn on a keyboard: the key you press, what it sends, and every other rule you have made, on one board. A list of names never showed you that two rules were fighting over the same key.
Games see it
Keys are sent as scancodes with the extended-key flag set where it belongs, which is what DirectInput and Raw Input actually read. A remapper built on virtual keys is invisible to most games. Games running kernel-level anti-cheat reject simulated input of any kind, and no remapper gets past that one.
Always a way back
Press Escape five times and every key goes back to being itself, from any window, however thoroughly you have remapped the board. It works even when Escape is one of the keys you mapped. Nothing here can hold a key it did not let go of.
Upgrading
Mappings from the previous version are carried across the first time it opens.

What's new in 2.1.2
- One key can send a whole shortcut now. Ctrl+C, Alt+F4, Ctrl+Shift+S — hold the modifiers as you press and that is what it sends
- Every key is here, including the punctuation keys the old picker had no name for, and Alt is called Alt rather than Menu
- Press the key you want instead of finding it in a list
- Keys are sent as scancodes, so games and emulators see them. The old build sent virtual keys and most games ignored them
- Keep the original too, so a key does both jobs at once
- See the rule on a keyboard, with everything else you have changed, before you save it
- Escape five times puts every key back, from any window. Nothing can be left held
- Your old mappings are carried across on the first launch
