USBClean
Plug in a USB drive and see the hidden junk other computers left on it: Mac ._ files and .DS_Store, Thumbs.db, and shortcut virus traces. Every file is listed before anything is removed, and the drive is checked again after each clean.
See the hidden files Macs, cameras and other PCs leave on your USB drive.

About USBClean
Share a USB drive with a Mac, a camera or another PC and it collects hidden files you never asked for. USBClean shows you every one of them, removes the ones you choose, and checks the drive again to prove they are gone.
See it before it goes
Plug in a drive and USBClean scans it straight away. It only looks: nothing is removed until you click Clean. Junk is sorted into five groups, each with a count and a size, and every group opens to list its files by path. Click a path to see the file in File Explorer.
What it finds
Mac leftovers: ._ files, .DS_Store, .apdisk, .localized, .VolumeIcon.icns, and the .Spotlight-V100, .Trashes, .fseventsd, .TemporaryItems, .DocumentRevisions-V100, .AppleDouble, .AppleDB and .AppleDesktop folders.
Windows thumbnail caches: Thumbs.db, ehthumbs.db and ehthumbs_vista.db, plus desktop.ini files that only remember how a folder was viewed. A desktop.ini that gives a folder its own icon or name is left alone.
Shortcut virus traces: shortcuts standing in for folders the virus hid, the hidden folders themselves, which USBClean makes visible again, and a leftover autorun.inf at the top of the drive.
Empty folders and empty files are there too, switched off by default, because some cameras expect their folders to exist. Dot files such as .nomedia are always kept.
Proven, not promised
After every clean, USBClean scans the drive again and tells you what is left. If a file could not be removed, it says which one and why: in use, access denied, or a write-protected card.
Clean and eject
One button cleans the drive and ejects it safely. If Windows refuses because a program still has the drive open, USBClean tells you so.
Safe by design
USBClean works only on removable drives and never on the Windows drive. It never enters System Volume Information or the Recycle Bin, and it never follows a link off the drive.
Everything happens on this PC. There is no account, nothing is uploaded, and it works with no connection.
